DOUBLE GLAZING GUILDFORD
DOUBLE GLAZING GUILDFORD
Double Glazing Windows and Doors in Guildford
Raven Bespoke Improvements has operated in Guildford for a number of years, and as you may already know, there are hundreds of houses in the area with old and inefficient windows. These are most often single glazed windows, but there are also plenty of examples of double-glazed windows which are over two decades old. These can be replaced with new double glazing which is up to ten times more energy-efficient.
We specialise in double glazing, and in particular, the modernisation and replacement of older units. We can recommend the right windows the first time around on consultation which comes with no obligation to buy. We’re in a great position to help with your double glazing in Guildford because we have close links to a variety of leading manufacturers who specialise in producing windows with the latest technologies to the latest industry standards.
Double Glazing Options
The great thing about double glazing is there’s a product to suit every budget. Even economy windows are good nowadays, with a U-value of around 2.0. Better double glazing in Guildford can have a U-value of lower than 1.5. Ultimately, the best double glazing for you will depend on your budget and what you want from your windows. We use products from brands such as VEKA and EUROCELL. We only deal in quality products.
Double glazing is available for sash windows, casement windows, bay windows, sidelights, jalousie windows and more. Sometimes, it’s possible to convert old timber windows from single to double glazing but the cost is high and the process sometimes impossible. It’s often easier to get single glazed windows replaced with new double-glazed units, although you will probably need to attain listed building consent if your building is listed.
UPVC DOUBLE GLAZING WINDOWS
Raven Improvements in Guildford
We’ve worked on a wide variety of projects in Guildford, from replacing a solid external house wall with a panoramic bi-folding door near Pewley Down, to fitting out a converted mill with 26 new double-glazed sash windows. We know the area well and regularly travel through on the A3. We are based in the south ourselves and love nothing more than an outing close to Guildford Castle or further down the River Wey.

Choosing the right windows
You can have your windows with a timber, UPVC or aluminium frame. The choice is yours, with timber being paintable any colour and UPVC available in grey or white (brown is also available, but it’s not very popular).
Different types of glass are available. We recommend glazing filled with argon gas with a warm edge spacer. The gas cavity acts as an insulator and barrier from heat loss. It’s much better than air and never needs replacing.
You’ll come across double glazing in Guildford with different U-values. The specification for domestic buildings in Part L1A h for windows is 1.4 W/m²K. A good rule of thumb is modern double glazing generally starts with a U-value of 2.4. A lower number is better.
Windows with high-quality glass, such as Pilkington glass, can have a U-value as low as 1.3 which is really good but any U-Value below 2.0 is fine. If you want a better U-value, you might like to consider triple glazing, which can have a U-value as low as 0.7.
Windows are available in many designs and different types of products, each one with its own unique advantage for the purpose and situation where the installation is to be carried out. Whether your choice is wood , aluminium or Pvc we have it
